1393778 Hollow regenerated cellulose filaments COURTAULDS Ltd 9 Aug 1972 37177/72 Addition to 1333047 Heading B5B Highly absorbent regenerated cellulose filaments having a collapsed hollow structure, a multi-limbed cross-section and a water-imbibition of 165 to 354% are made by extruding a viscose comprising 6À5 to 12À0% cellulose, especially 6À5 to 9À5%, from 4À0 to 10À0% caustic soda, and from 2À0 to 5À0% sodium carbonate, and having a salt figure of 3À5 to 5À1 into an aqueous spinning bath comprising 9À0 to 20À0% by weight sulphuric acid, from 0 to 3À0% anhydrous zinc sulphate, and from 20À0 to 26À0% anhydrous sodium sulphate, and at a temperature in the range 60‹ to 85‹ C., to form filaments, and stretching the filaments by at least 10%.
