138,685. Thompson, W. P., (Walsh, J. R., and Bland, J. H.). Jan. 28, 1919. Concrete vessels.-In concrete ships reinforced by a mesh-work of metal bars, the bars of the mesh-work are in the form of an archimedean helix extending from the bow to the stern. Such construction is stated to form a series of torsional braces. These braces may be of any number and are interlocked with the ordinary beams and frames. The hatch openings are surrounded by metal reinforcing-rings connected to the braces 2. The frames and beams may also be constructed of bars welded together, wrapped round with expanded metal, and filled with concrete.
