Abstract

125,734. Green, W. April 20, 1918. Concrete ships, boats, and like vessels. - The framework or skeleton structure in reinforced concrete ships, pontoons, &c. is built up of tubular members, which may be wholly or partially filled with a grouting or cement, or they may serve as pipes or conduits. Fig. 2 shows a section of a vessel having tubular reinforcing-members i, i<1>. Fig. 1 shows a section of a vessel having, a double hull with central keel supporting a deck or gun platform. Laminated longitudinal girders d and transverse girders e are used in conjunction with the tubular reinforcing-members, and stanchions k may be fitted. The holds or compartments may be lined with wooden blocks. Pontoons for use in building bridges &c. comprise a framework of tubular members, the walls of which may consist of wood, certain only of the chambers being filled with concrete prior to or during the sinking operation.
