Abstract

1386213 Rolling mills MANNESMANNMEER AG 30 March 1973 [6 April 1972] 15318/73 Heading B3M A rolling mill, e.g. a tube piercing mill, incorporates a pair of skewed work rolls 11 carried in chocks 6, and a pair of guide wheels 7 mounted in supports 9, the chocks and rolls being removable vertically from the mill stand when a cap 5 has been removed. The cap is normally held on top of four stand columns 2 by pivoted levers 26 carried on the columns, the levers being movable between operative and inoperate positions by rams 32 having claws 29 at their ends. Before the lower roll can be removed from the stand, the supports 9 (Fig. 2, in plan) are released from the columns 2, and removed laterally from the stand. Each chock 6 is guided at its corners by ledges 12 fixed to the pillars, the clearance 15 being taken up by ram operated bell-crank levers 17.
