Abstract
1366909 Delivering sheets XEROX CORP 28 Oct 1971 [29 Oct 1970] 50258/71 Heading B8R Electrostatographic copying apparatus comprises electrostatographic surface means, e.g. a xerographic drum 20, having an imaging area for supporting a powder image transferable to a record medium, e.g. a paper sheet; the surface means being provided with a permanent recess, e.g. a circumferential groove 40, and means being provided for applying gas to said recess to strip at least part of said medium from said surface means. The gas applying means may comprise a gas manifold 26 having a plurality of aligned gas nozzles 27, 44, nozzle 44 directing gas to said recess to initiate stripping of a corner of the medium from the drum and nozzles 27 continuing the stripping. The gas is applied at constant pressure via a solenoid valve which is opened when a medium is sensed on a feed path to the xerographic drum. The recess may be formed by protruberances on the drum surface.
