Abstract

1397844 Delivering sheets XEROX CORP 12 Sept 1972 [16 Sept 1971 (3)] 42323/72 Heading B8R Mechanism for stiffening a copy sheet 70 from a xerographic drum 10 comprises a roller 40 rotating within and projecting from a housing 36, the roller having a plurality of axial slots 62 and circumferential slots 63 in its surface and communicating at one of its ends with a source of suction, and the housing being divided by seals 67, 68, 69 into an enclosed portion 38 and a portion 74 communicating with atmosphere through ports 76. The roller 70 is out of contact with the drum. The leading edge of a sheet is attracted to and held against the slots 62 emerging from the seal 62, and the rest of the sheet is held against the slots 63 until stripped therefrom by fingers 60 to pass over ports 76, which are connected to suction when the slots 63 enter the portion 74.
