Abstract

1382646 Electro-photographic apparatus XEROX CORP 18 April 1972 [22 April 1971] 17831/72 Heading G2H In copying machines the originals for copying are handled by a unit which either feeds documents to be copied in automatic sequence or allows the document feed device to be swung away from the unit in order that books and the like may be placed in open paged copying position. In the electrostatic printing machine shown a transparent platen 12, Fig. 3, upon which material for copying is placed face downwards has associated therewith endless belt document feed means 63 which may be swung away as shown in Fig. 4c to allow an open book to be placed thereon. A light-tight cover 51, which is placed over the material being copied during operation of the machine is also swingable from the platen to allow removal of the feed means 63.
