Abstract

Floors of reinforced-concrete girders side by side; reinforced-blockwork girders; roofs.-In a floor or roof of the type formed of reinforced blockwork beams placed side by side and with reinforced-concrete beams cast between them, the beam blocks have tapered dovetailed channels t, Fig. 3, on the underside and are laid so that the pairs of wide and narrow ends occur alternately and produce a zigzag channel s, Fig. 1, along the base of the beam. Rods are embedded in concrete in the channels s. The beam blocks have sloping sides d and flanges f, and when the beams are placed together, the sides d of adjacent beams meet, if produced, on the neutral axis of the intermediate concrete beam.
