Abstract

Floors of reinforced-concrete girders side by side; walls; reinforced-concrete beams. - Reinforced-concrete beams of I-section, Fig. 1, are provided with fillets c which project beyond the flanges alternately on opposite sides, so that beams laid side by side or superimposed on edge are locked together. The fillets may be integral with the beams or separate therefrom. Fig. 4 shows a floor strengthened under the wall above by reinforced concrete filled into the space between two beams. The junction of beams at right-angles to each other may be similarly strengthened. The hollows in the floor may be used as pipe ducts by omitting the fillets where necessary. Fig. 12 shows the application to a wall; the interior may be left hollow or be filled as shown.
