Abstract

1351129 Photo-conductive composition: toner OCE-VAN DER GRINTEN N V 14 May 1971 [14 May 1970] 23484/70 Headings G2C and G2H A photo-conductive composition which may be used as a toner comprises a binder and a non- polymeric organic photo-conductor in which two phenyl-thio moieties at least one of which carries a tertiary amino group in the p-position are linked together by an organic bridging group between the thio atoms. In the specific embodiments the substituents on the amino group may be methyl, ethyl, butyl, cyclo pentyl or hexyl, benzyl or morpholino, whilst the bridging group may be ethene, ethane, butane, dichloroethene, phenylene, aniline, thione or thiolsuccinate. The resin may be poly vinyl chloride-acetate, PVC, copolystyrene-butadiene, chlorinated rubber, phenol-formaldehyde resin, epoxy resin, polyvinyl butyral, chlorinated paraffin resin or colophonium resin. The composition can be coated on metallized glass or plastics, paper or a metal support to give an electro-photographic plate, used as a self-supporting plate or may be used in powder form as a toner. Dye, sensitizers or other photo-conductors may be added to the composition or an adjacent layer of CdS or Se may be used with the electro-photographic plate.
