[Also in Division C3] An electrophotographic element comprises a conductive support having thereon a layer containing a polymeric material having repeating units of formula wherein X is CN or CO 2 R<SP>1</SP>, R is H, halogen, OR<SP>1</SP> or CO 2 R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>1</SP> is an alkyl group preferably having up to 4 carbon atoms. In the specific embodiments, an aluminium plate is coated with an organic solvent solution of a copolymer of a methylene indoline and acrylonitrile, ethyl acrylate, methyl acrylate or n-butyl acrylate and optionally chlorinated diphenyl and chloranil as plasticizer and sensitizer respectively. Conductive paper or plastics film may be used as a support. Other sensitizers and plasticizers are specified.
