Abstract
1377727 Recording medium and process MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 5 June 1973 26850/73 Headings G2C and G2X A transparent recording medium comprises a base film, an electrically conductive layer, an organic photo-conductive electro-photographic layer and a non-photo-conductive light sensitive layer, the organic layer being formed on the surface of the conductive layer and being an outside layer. The light sensitive layer may be on the outer side of the base film with the conductive layer on the other side of the film or the light sensitive layer may be between the film and the conductive layer. The base film is preferably polyethylene terephthalate and the conductive layer is Al, Ti, Au, cuprous iodide formed in situ or a conductive resin. The organic photo-conductive layer is polyvinyl anthracene or a poly N-vinyl carbazole derivative. The photo-conductive layer may also include a mixture of an epoxy resin and a polycarbonate and a pyrylium perchlorate as a sensitizer. An adhesive layer may be provided between the conductive and the organic layer; this may be polyvinyl acetate or a copolymer of vinylacetate with ethylene or vinyl chloride. The light sensitive layer is preferably a vesicular material (Example 2), a two-component diazotype composition (Example 1), dichromated polyvinyl alcohol (Example 4) a bi-imidazole composition (Example 5) or a leuco dye 1CBr 4 composition (Example 3). In use the recording medium is electrostatically charged, exposed and developed with toner particles. The medium is then uniformly exposed to U.V. and the light sensitive layer developed. The toner particles may be removed before developing the light sensitive layer.
