Abstract

1354237 Photo-conductive material FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 20 April 1972 [20 April 1971] 18466/72 Heading G2C A photo-conductive material comprising particles of cadmium sulphide and cadmium carbonate is washed with water and then treated with a monomeric silicon compound. In an embodiment particles comprising a mixture of cadmium sulphide, cadmium carbonate and silica are treated with cadmium iodide in ethanol, dried and heated to 200‹C. The treated particles are washed repeatedly with water, dried and dispersed in ethanol. An ethanolic solution of trimethoxysilylpropylethylenediamine is added to the dispersion and the solid is removed and dried at 70‹C then 150‹C. This particulate solid is dispersed in an acrylic resin together with copper stearate and coated on an aluminium cylinder to give an electro-photographic plate. The silicon compound may also be vinyltriethoxy silane, vinyl tris (#-methoxethoxy) silane, ymethacryloxy propyltrimethoxysilane or #-(3, 4- epoxycyclohexyl) ethyltrimethoxysilane. Sensitizing dyes, other polymeric binders and other silicon compounds are specified. The particles may be treated with the vapour of a silicon compound.
