Abstract

1,064,140. Photoconductors containing CdS. FUJI SHASHIN FILM KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Dec. 20, 1965 [Dec. 19, 1964], No. 53961/65. Heading H1K. A light-sensitive body is made dispersing CdS of size less than 1À5 Á in a thermosetting resin having a specific resistance by volume of at least 10 inches ohm cm., applying the dispersion to a support and heating the coated support to harden the resin. The photoconduc. tive layer may be used for electrophotography, photo cells, or image intensifiers or converters. Electrophotographic elements are made by mixing (20-60 volume per cent) CdS with resin with or without an organic solvent. The resin may be of the methacrylate, epoxy, phenol, amino, silicone, polyurethane, or cellulose type whilst polyesters or acetic acid vinyl chloride copolymer may also be used. The support may be paper, iron or aluminium and a thermosetting binding agent may be used.
