Abstract

1,136,978. Electro-photography. RANK XEROX Ltd. 27 June, 1966 [2 July, 1965], No. 28669/66. Heading H1K. An electro-photographic plate comprises a photo-conductive layer containing a quinacridone and a binder material. The preferred quinacridones are unsubstituted quinacridone (Monastral Red Y), a mixture of unsubstituted and the 4,11-dichloro derivative (Monastral Violet R), the 2,9-dimethyl derivative (Monastral Red B), Monastral Soarlet and the 4,11, dimethyl derivative. The binder is preferably copoly styrene-butadiene, silicone resin, copoly vinyl chloride/acetate, polyvinyl carbazole and polycarbonate, but numerous other resins are specified. Zinc stearate may be added to the layer. The photo-conductive layer may be selfsupporting or be applied to a substrate of aluminium, steel, brass, tin-oxide coated glass, plastics or paper. A protective overcoating may be applied to the photo-conductive layer whilst organic and inorganic photo-conductors may be added to the layer.
