Abstract

1389677 Electro-photographic element HOECHST AG 6 Dec 1972 [8 Dec 1971] 56265/72 Heading G2C An electro-photographic element comprises a conductive support and a photo-conductive layer comprising a base layer and a top layer each containing an organic photo-conductor and a binder, at least one organic photo-conductor being common to both top and base layers, the base layer containing an activating sensitizer in an amount 1 to 20 wt per cent of the total photoconductor present in both layers. The conductive support is preferably aluminium or alumized polyester; the binder copoly styrene-maleic anhydride, polystyrene, chlorinated PVC or a polyester; the photo-conductor bis (p-diethyl aminophenyl) oxadiazole and the sensitizer Rhodamine B, Crystal Violet, Brilliant green, Diana Blue, Pigment Red 39, or trianisylpyrlium perchlorate. Other binders, photoconductors and sensitizers are specfied. The base and the top layer may be built up by laminating or sequential coating.
