Abstract

1294136 Photoconductive composition OCEVAN DER GRINTEN NV 3 Feb 1970 [7 Feb 1969] 6802/69 Heading H1K A photoconductive composition comprises an insulating binder and an organic photoconductor having two phenyl nuclei joined by a bridging member wherein one of the nuclei is p-amino substituted and the bridging member is O, S, Se, Te, a plurality of these elements or a combination with a halogen. The p-amino substituent may include heterocyclic rings. Various specific examples wherein the bridging member is O, S, Se, Te, S-S, S-S-S, SO, SO 2 , Se-Se, SeO, SeO 2 , SeCl 2 , TeO, TeO 2 , Se-S, Se-S-Se, S-Se-S, Te-S, TeCl 2 , or TeBr 2 are given. The binder may be copoly styrene-butadiene, polyvinyl acetate-chloride, P.V.C., chlorinated rubber or colophony-maleate resin, other resins also -being mentioned. Sensitizing dyes such as rhodamine B extra, Crystal violet and Victoria blue B may be added to the composition. The composition is coated on to a support of paper or aluminium. In one embodiment a ground mixture of copolyvinyl acetate-chloride and 4,4<SP>1 </SP>- thiobis - [N,N - diethylaniline] is applied to a conductive plate, electrostatically charged, exposed and exposed particles removed.
