Abstract

1392929 Photo-conductive compositions AGFA-GEVAERT 7 July 1972 [20 July 1971] 34046/71 Heading G2C An electro-photographic recording member comprises a photo-conductive layer comprising 50 to 97 wt per cent of a mixture of ZnO particles and positively chargeable particles of substances selected from BaSO 4 , SiO 2 and polyethylene in a weight ratio between 10:90 and 50:50 dispersed in a binder. The photo-conductive composition may include other positively chargeable particles, e.g. MgO, TiO 2 , CaCO 3 , zinc monobutylphosphate, maize starch, hydrophobized starch, albumin, anthracene, napthalene, benzophenone and diphenyl. The positively chargeable particles may have a grain size of 10<SP>-2</SP> to 50 microns and the ZnO 0.1 to 15 microns. The dark resistivity of the ZnO may be reduced by the use of substances as described in Specifications 1256888, 1020506 and 1020504. The binder may be polyurethane, polyester, polycarbonate, polystyrene, chlorinated rubber, acrylic resin, styrolated alkyd resin, vinyl acetate copolymer, e.g. with vinyl chloride or a copolymer of ethylene, vinyl sulphenyl chloride and vinyl chloride. The composition may include spectral sensitizers and dyes. The conductive support may be metal, condictive paper, metallized plastics, paper-metal or paper-conductive plastics laminate.
