Abstract
853,308. Xerographic plates. MINNESOTA MINING & MANUFACTURING CO. Oct. 1, 1956 [Sept. 30, 1955], No. 21777/60. Divided out of 853,307. Drawings to Specification. Class 37 A flexible photoconductive copy sheet comprises a thin continuous metallic layer to which is bonded a photoconductive material in particulate form with an organic binder. The metallic layer, which may be of aluminium, may be supported on a paper or transparent film base. The binder may be of polystyrene, chlorinated rubber, polyvinyl acetate, petroleum base diolefin resin, thermoplastic hydrocarbon resins or polyamide resins. The photoconductive material may be zinc oxide, zinc sulphide, yellow cadmium sulphide, titanium dioxide, barium titanite or various phosphors based on zinc oxide, zinc sulphide and cadmium sulphide. The photoconductive coatings may contain metallic soaps such as zinc steartae or cobalt palmitate. The copy-sheet may be provided with a strongly coloured surface which is then masked with a suitable protective film of blushed lacquer. The zinc oxide coatings may be sensitized with dyes and mixtures of treated and untreated zinc oxides may be used. The background colour of a copy sheet containing sensitive cadmium sulphide is improved by a thin surface layer of titanium dioxide in a binder.
