Abstract

1,103,865. Photographic process. KEUFFEL & ESSER. Dec. 29, 1965 [Dec. 30, 1964], No.23306/67. Divided out of 1, 103, 864. Heading G2C. Photographic images are formed by imagewise exposing a material comprising a supported layer of a normally non-dustable and non-thermally transferable diazonium compound, optionally dispersed in a resin binder, heating the material, and then applying a powder developer to the layer so that it adheres to the exposed areas thereof. In a modification, the exposed diazonium layer is heated whilst in contact with a receiving sheet (e. g. of paper) to transfer a stratum of the exposed areas of the layer to the sheet, powder developer is adhered to the transferred stratum; by successively contacting the exposed material with a plurality of receiving sheets, a plurality of copies may be obtained. The supports, binders and diazonium compounds described in Specification 1,103,864 may be used. The developer may be a pigment (e. g. TiO 2 , PbSO 4 ), a hectographic dye in a resin binder, or an oleophilic ink receptor. The developed image may be fixed by heat or solvent vapour. Colour images may be prepared from colour separation negatives using coloured developers.
