Abstract

A method of producing a copy from an original document by establishing an electrostatic latent image on a surface and contacting said surface with an electrostatically magnetic matting material comprising finely divided matter particles, with a range of sizes comprised between approximately 0.5 and 1000 microns and a blocking temperature of at least 100ºF (38ºC) and comprising a colorizer selected from the group consisting of pigments, dyes and mixtures thereof, a soft, solid polymeric core material and adhesive and magnetic particles, encapsulated in a polymeric wall material, whereby at least a part of said finely divided toner particles is attracted and retained on said surface in accordance with said electrostatic latent image, transferring said toner image to a receiving surface and fix the image of shade on said receiving surface.
