Abstract

1342749 Treating polymers or monomers with glow discharge EASTMAN KODAK CO 19 April 1971 [3 Dec 1970] 20563/71 Heading C3P [Also in Division G2] Toner particles used in developing electrostatic images, i.e. comprising a resin and a pigment, are exposed while agitated to a glow discharge preferably in the presence of a polymerizable material, at a low pressure. Useful resins are polystyrene, polyamide, alkyd or rosin-modified alkyl resin, polyethylene or polypropylene. The polymerizable material may be as specified in Specification 1,342,748. In the absence of polymerizable material, crosslinking on the surface is said to occur while in the presence of polymerizable material a layer of polymer is formed.
