Abstract
1,016,286. Photo- and thermo-graphic diarotype materials. ILFORD Ltd. Dec. 30,1963 [Jan. 16, 1963], No. 2034/63. Heading G2C. A diarotype material comprises a support coated with a layer containing a diaronium compound dispersed in a resinous binder and a further layer containing an azo coupling component, an amide or an alcohol melting between 86 and 160‹C. which may be the coupler and an organic base melting above 150‹C., all dispersed in a resinous binder. The material is either exposed image-wise to ultra-violet, preferably through the support which is transparent, and developed by exposure to infrared, or exposed image-wise to infra-red and preferably fixed by exposure to ultra-violet. Specified bases are quanidene carbonate and hexamethylenetetramine and specified amides or alcohols are acetanide and benzoin. The binders for the layers may be vinyl or acrylic polymers, cellulose derivatives, zein for the diazonium layer or cyclised rubber for the coupler layer. Acetoacetanilide may act as both coupler and amide.
