Abstract

1,62,865. Light and heat sensitive materials. ITEK CORPORATION. June 3, 1964 [June 3, 1963], No. 23024/64. Heading G2C. A heat and light sensitive composition comprises a diazo sulphonate salt of formula R-N=N-SO3X wherein R is aryl and X is an alkalimetal ion, a coupling agent therefor and a diazomium salt dissolvable by light to supply a diazonium cation. This composition is applied to a support and either imagewise exposed to infrared radiation and fixed by light or imagewise exposed to either ultraviolet light and developed by heat. An overcoat of a wax or resin may be applied over the sensitive layer and the composition may be applied to a support coated with polyvinyl acetate. The support may be infrared transparent, e.g. glassine.
