Abstract

1,031,073. Heat-and light sensitive materials. KALLE A.G. July 18, 1963 [July 25, 1962; Oct. 5, 1962], No. 28552/63. Heading G2C. A thermographic material comprises an infrared transmissive support coated with a heat-and light sensitive layer containing a diazo sulphonate of formula:- wherein R 1 is alkyl, R 2 is alkyl or R 1 and R 2 complete a heterocyclic ring, R 3 is hydrogen or alkoxy, R 4 is alkoxy and Ka is metal cation or the cation of an organic amino compound, a coupler and a resin soluble in organic solvents and softening between 70‹ and 200‹C. Specified resins are polyamides, polyacrylic acid esters or amides and ethyl cellulose. Specified diazo-sulphonates are those wherein R 1 and R 2 are methyl or ethyl or where R 1 and R 2 complete a piperidine, morpholine, piperazine, pyrollidine or tetra-hydroquinoline. The material is imagewise exposed to heat and may be fixed by over-overall exposure to light. The material may have an infra-red transmissive covering layer of a pigment e.g. titanium dioxide in a binder e.g. ethyl cellulose and the heat-sensitive layer may also contain a pigment.
