Abstract
938,434. Photo-conductive materials. KALLE A.G. April 1, 1960 [April 9, 1959], No. 11529/60. Class 37. [Also in Groups IV (a) and IV (b)] Electrophotographic material comprises a photo-conductive layer on a support, the layer containing an imidazole substituted in the 4- and 5-positions by an aromatic or heterocyclic residue, and optionally substituted in the 2- position by a similar group and in the 1-position by alkyl. Another photo-conductive substance may also be present, e.g. a triazole as in Specification 836,148, together with a sensitizing dyestuff as mentioned therein. The binder may be a natural or synthetic resin, e.g. a coumarone, indene, polyvinyl compound, polyalkylene, polystyrene, polyacrylic or methacrylic ester, alkyd, maleic acid, phenolformaldehyde, urea-formaldehyde, melamineformaldehyde, xylene-formaldehyde, aldehyde, ketone, polyamide, polyurethane, phthalic acid polyester, cellulose ether or chlorinated rubber. The support may be a metal (e.g. aluminium, zinc, copper), paper, cellulose ester, polyolefine, polyvinyl compound, polyester, polycarbonate, polyamide or polymethane. The layers are made, cast on to the support and used as described in Specification 836,148. Specifications 633,747 and 633,796 also are referred to.
