Abstract

1,165,327. Photographic materials and processes. KODAK Ltd. April 6, 1967 [April 7 1966], No.15478/66. Heading G2C. A photographic material comprises a support coated with a print-out emulsion and overcoated with an actinic light transmissive colloid binder layer in which is dispersed a dye precursor which is converted into a protective filter for the printout emulsion on applying the appropriate aqueous solution. Specified precursors are nitrophenols, PH indicator dyes, diazonium compounds with azo couplers, and yellow colour couplers which are dispersed in an albumin, polyvinyl alcohol, polyacrylamide, cellulose derivative, polysaccharose or gelatine binder. The print-out material may be that disclosed in Specifications 1, 059, 782 or 877, 841. The overcoated layer may contain a polymeric product such as that produced by reacting polymerized methyl vinyl ketone with aminoquanidine, to fix the dye formed. All the precursors require an aqueous alkaline solution except the colour couplers which require a colour developer and an oxidizing agent.
