Abstract
1345688 Combined pouring spout and venting fitting; container closures AMERICAN FLANGE & MFG CO Inc 23 Feb 1972 [25 Feb 1971] 8378/72 Headings B8X B8D and B8T Liquid from a container 25, 26 enters a pouring spout 1, Fig. 3, via an aperture 11 in a baffle 10, spaced from the end of the spout by feet 8, Fig. 2, whilst air is vented into the container via the spout and gaps 12 between adjacent feet. The spout includes cylindrical and tapered portions 2 and 6 and is slidable in a bushing 14 between extended (Fig. 3) and withdrawn (Fig. 2) positions. The two extreme positions are determined by the feet 8 abutting the bushing 14 and by a lip 3 abutting the bushing 14. Initially, the bushing is sealed by a diaphragm 20, removable by means of a pull ring 21. A handle 4 facilitates moving the spout to its extended position. After use, the bushing is closable by a snap-on lid 22.
