Abstract

1343934 Driving open-end spinning frames TOYODA JIDOSHOKKI SEISAKUSHO KK and TOYOTO CHUO KENKYUSHO KK 19 April 1971 [18 April 1970] 27074/71 Heading DID [Also in Division G3] In an open-end spinning frame the rotors 3 are driven directly by the shafts of individual variable speed motors 11. The motors 11 may be connected to a high or low frequency power source to give a high normal running speed or a low running speed for piecing up. The low frequency is increasable to accelerate the rotor to normal running speed after piecing up. The low frequency source is carried by a carrier which traverses in front of the spinning frame until it detects an ends down whereupon it stops and connects the motor 11 to the low frequency source. Separate motors 10 and 12 may drive the feed and delivery rollers each being connected to the said electric sources, Fig. 1. Alternatively a single motor 106 mounted in the carrier may drive the feed and delivery rollers by mechanical engagement through clutches 96 and 97 respectively, Fig. 5. During normal spinning the feed and delivery rollers are driven by lay shafts 92 and 93. The carrier may carry a motor driven generator as the low frequency source or may act as a moving terminal for a fixed source. The electric sources may alternatively by solid state static inverters suitable circuits for which are illustrated in Figs. 3A and 3B, (not shown). If three separate electric sources 50, 60, 70 are employed for the feed, rotor and delivery respectively the rotating elements are synchronized by the circuit of Fig. 4. Motors 51, 61, 71 drive generators 53, 62, 73 whose outputs drive motors 54, 63, 74 driving generators 55, 64, 75 whose outputs are amplified and whose differential is used to operate motors 52a, 72a to vary the transmission ratio between motors 51, 71 and generators 53, 73 and hence maintains a constant ratio between the output of generators 53, 62 and 73. The carrier may also comprise means to perform the piecing up. Specification 1342658 is referred to (For Figures see next page)
