Abstract

1398995 Spindle drives SIEMENS AG 11 Aug 1972 [13 Aug 1971] 37670/72 Heading DID [Also in Division F2] A shaft 2 in a spinning machine is engaged and driven at high speed by pairs of friction wheels 7, 9 and 8, 10, the wheels 7, 8 being driven by an electric motor 5 and the wheels 9, 10 being driven by an electric motor 6. A magnet 14 holds the shaft 2 in engagement with the friction wheels. The motors may have internal rotors or external rotors. In a modification, three motors drive arrangements of three friction wheels 13 at each end thereof, Fig. 4.
