Abstract

398,325. Maintaining equal speeds of motors. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 28, Kingsway, London, and BALL, R. D., Phoenix Works, Bradford, Yorkshire. July 27, 1932, No. 21192. [Class 38 (iii).] The brush-shifting gear of a machine is driven by an electric motor electrically synchronized with a master shaft. The machines 2, 3 have their brush-shifting gear driven by motors 14, 15 respectively, which are interconnected with each other and with a master machine 13 on the stator and rotor sides. The machine 13 may be mechanically connected to a motor 10 operating the brushshifting gear of a machine 1 and regulated by control gear 11. The motor 10 may be replaced by a hand-wheel, and the motors 14, 15 may be arranged to supply synchronizing torque only in which case additional driving motors are provided. These additional motors are connected in the same manner as the motor 10, and controlled by a single control gear 11.
