Abstract
1369844 Induction generators SIEMENS AG 13 Sept 1971 [11 Sept 1970] 42652/71 Heading H2A An energy supply plant comprises two asynchronous generators 2, 3, whose rotors are mechanically and electrically connected together, the stator 31 of one being connected to a constant frequency A.C. source 4, a constant frequency output being obtained from the stator 21 of the other regardless of the speed of a prime inover 1 driving the two rotors. In the three phase system disclosed, the source 4 is a static frequency changer supplied by a synchronous generator 5e energized by an exciter 5a. All of the machines are driven by the prime mover which may, e.g. be an aircraft turbine, the output frequency of the source 4 and of the winding 21 then being 400 c/s. The output frequency of the source 4 may be reduced by arranging the generator 3 to have more poles on its rotor than on its stator. The output power of the frequency changer 4 may be reduced by connecting between the frequency changer and the stator 31 at least one further set of two generators M2, Fig. 3 (not shown), mounted on the same shaft as the other machines and electrically interconnected in the same way as the generators 2 and 3 shown.
