Abstract

1343398 Gas burners DELANEY GALLAY Ltd 19 April 1971 [24 Dec 1969] 62836/69 Heading F4T A gas burner comprises a top plate 2 spaced apart from a collector plate 4 and a plurality of tubes as 6 extending between the plates and through a hole in each plate, the periphery of each tube being provided for part of its length with three spaced axial ribs or flutes 8 so as to give the tube a force fit in the hole 10 in the top plate while the ends of the ribs 8 provide shoulders for positioning the tube in the collector plate, and in use air is drawn up through the tubes while gas is forced under pressure from the space 12 up through the holes 10 between the ribs 8 where it is then diffused by sand 14 to form a combustible mixture with the air drawn through the tubes. In an alternative arrangement the ribs or flutes may be formed on the periphery of the holes in the top plate instead of on the tubes.
