Abstract

A foam generator of the type in which air is induced through apertures 4 13 in a pipe 2 has upstream of the apertures a jet plate 4 having a plurality of holes in concentric circles and of increasing diameters from the centre of the plate, outwards, see Fig. 2 (not shown), they may also be inclined to the pipe axis, see Fig. 3 (not shown). The air intake may be surrounded by a sleeve 18 to which a low pressure air supply is connected. The foam pipe may have a venturi form portion 14, a curved screen 15 and guide plates 17 which may be parallel to the axis or helically arranged as at 17'.
