Abstract

1342171 Air outlets CONNOR ENG CORP 22 March 1971 7464/71 Heading F4V A room terminal outlet unit for an air distribution system comprises a housing having an air passage subdivided by a partition 34 into a portion containing a valve 40 actuated in response to a room thermostat and a by-pass portion. In the form shown, the valve 40 is formed by two extensible casings containing inflatable bladders, and the by-pass may contain a pivoted flap 44. A grille 20 sealed to the housing includes sets of vertica and horizontal independently operable louvre blades. An electric heating element 56 may be provided in the housing. In another embodiment, the valve 40 is formed by simultaneously operable pivoted flaps interleaved with fixed vanes, and the pivoted flaps are actuated by an air pressure cylinder. The air distribution system comprises a main duct supplying air to at least one branch duct having a pneumatic damper responsive to pressure in the branch duct to maintain such pressure constant. All terminal units from a branch duct to a room are controlled by a common room thermostat. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 921,958.
