Abstract
909,284. Ventilating tunnels. KLOCKNERWERKE A.G. Nov. 24, 1960 [Nov. 27, 1959], No. 40485/60. Class 137. Apparatus for ventilating a tunnel 1 comprises an air duct 2 and two branch pipes 3, 3<SP>1</SP> each having a fan 4, 4<SP>1</SP> and having a valve 6, 6<SP>1</SP> controlling their outlet. The valves are counterbalanced to open with a small increase in pressure and close on a reduced pressure. It is stated that with this system the fans 4, 4<SP>1</SP> may be changed very quickly so that substantially no impairment of the ventilation occurs. Slide valves 5, 5<SP>1</SP> may be incorporated for safety precautions in which case valve-controlled bypasses 7 and 7<SP>1</SP> are incorporated.
