Abstract

888,385. Ventilation. BAHCO A.B. Nov. 21, 1960 [Dec. 1, 1959], No. 39958/60. Class 137 A device for controlling the rate of air flow in a ventilation system which comprises a fan 4 blowing air along a main duct 3 to feed a series of branch ducts 2 which in turn supply ventilating apparatus 1, comprises two dampers 8, 9 disposed in the duct 3 as at 13, the damper 8 being connected to a regulator 7 which is sensitive to a pressure meter 5 controlled by a pressure control device 6 disposed in the duct and operating to supply air at a constant pressure to the apparatus under all conditions of operation of the apparatus, the damper 9 being coupled to the damper 8 and arranged so that the increased resistance to flow offered by the damper 9 corresponds to the decrease in frictional resistance in the duct when the rate of air flow therethrough is reduced by the damper 8. In a modification the dampers 8, 9 may be incorporated in the branch ducts as at 14. In an embodiment the coupling between the dampers 8 and 9 includes an eccentric cam.
