Abstract

974,427. Air flow silencers. K. C. LYNN. Nov. 2, 1962 [Nov. 3, 1961], No. 39508/61. Heading FIB. A silencer for an air conditioning system comprises at least one pair of conical or pyramidal shaped resonaters 11, with bases adjoining but spaced apart slightly, arranged in a casing 1, lined with sound absorbing material 8, so that an annular air flow passage is formed therearound. As shown the casing 1 is of rectangular cross-section with a rectangular inlet 3 and the sound absorbing material 8 is retained by perforated plates 7. The resonaters 11 are arranged on a bar 6 carried by spiders 4 and are partly filled with sound absorbing material 8 retained between the pyramidal outer perforated wall 11 and conical inner wall 12.
