Abstract

1,166,843. Silencing gaseous flow. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. April 13, 1967, No.16529/66. Heading F1B. In a silencer 16 fitted to the outlet of a gas blower, sound absorbing material is positioned between a perforated tube 21 and the outer wall 22, the material consisting of sections 24 formed by compressed layers of knitted or woven stainless steel wire, the sections being held in position by a coarse wire mesh 25 received by washers 30 on bolts 27. The space 31 is divided up by longitudinal partitions 29 associated with some of the bolts 27 and by circumferential portions 23. The gas is guided by a core 11 suspended from a tube 10 by spacers 13, 14.
