Abstract
1429203 Ventilating unit TEMPERATURE Ltd 22 Oct 1973 49042/73 Heading ASA [Also in Divisions F3 and F4] A ventilating unit comprises a housing 1 having a fresh air inlet, an outlet 2 for delivering the fresh air to a reversible cycle heat pump unit of an air conditioning installation described in UK specification 992621, a room air inlet and a room air outlet 4 to the external atmosphere, two ducts respectively connecting the fresh air inlet and outlet and the room air inlet and outlet, a filter in the fresh air duct, a fan 14 common to both ducts, and electrically operated dampers actuable to permit intake of fresh air and to prevent extraction of room air, or vice versa. In the form shown, pivoted flaps 6, 17 are spring biased to positions closing the fresh air inlet, and the room air inlet and outlet respectively. Actuation of a solenoid 11 moves the flap 6 to a position opening the fresh air inlet and actuation of a solenoid 19 moves the flaps 17 to a position opening the room air inlet and outlet. Room air extraction may be begun automatically in response to detection of fire or smoke. The casing 1 is lined with sound absorbing material which like the filter (12, Fig. 2) is an expanded plastics material treated so as to have flame-retarding properties.
