Abstract

1333396 Ventilating UNITED AIRCRAFT CORP 16 July 1971 [26 Oct 1970] 33434/71 Heading F4V An air conditioning system comprises an enclosure having an inlet orifice and an outlet orifice, means to supply conditioned air to the enclosure through the inlet orifice, and means to produce a positive pressure in the enclosure, including a fan located in the outlet orifice which exhausts air at a rate lower than the minimum rate of the supply device. An air conditioning system 10, mounted in an aircraft 12, using the engine 13 as its pressure source, supplies conditioned air to compartment 14. To ensure a positive pressure in the compartment 14, a fan 40 is mounted in the compartment outlet orifice 48, and exhausts air at a rate lower than the minimum rate of supply of system 10. A pressure relief valve 50 is positioned in the wall of compartment 14 to ensure that the pressure in the compartment does not exceed a preselected limit.
