Abstract

Condensers; transformers.-A condenser for use with electric ignition apparatus is formed by the primary winding a of the ignition coil. The individual layers of the winding are wound in the same direction, as shown, instead of backwards and forwards, so that the maximum potential difference betwen the layers is reduced to onehalf, thereby permitting the use of thinner insulating-sheets between the layers. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the following subject-matter :-The outer shape of the condenser is made to correspond with the form of the coil. As shown in Fig. 2 (Cancelled), the condenser c is in the form of a cylindrical segment and is placed around a portion of the outer surface of the coil f, the condenser being held by metal bands g against two cross members h mounted between the insulating-flanges i of the coil. In a modification, Fig. 3 (Cancelled), the condenser c is in cylindrical form and is placed between the primary winding a and the secondary winding d. The condenser may also be placed outside the secondary winding, or inside the primary winding around the core k. In a further modification, Figs. 5 and 6 (Cancelled), the condenser is placed beneath the coil on the core k, the metal coatings m of the condenser being provided with lateral recesses of the width of the core, so that they can be slid on the core alternatively from the right and the left and connected in two series by rivets n, n<1>. This subject-matter does not appear in the complete Specification as accepted.
