Abstract
1339801 Two-part couplings BUNKER RAMO CORP 29 June 1972 [22 July 1971] 34524/71 Heading H2E [Also in Divisions E2A and F2G] A latching connector for connecting electric cables comprises parts 14, 15 arranged for relative longitudinal push-pull movement into and out of connection with one another, the part 15 having a resilient arm 16 projecting in the longitudinal direction with a latch 10 at its projecting end, the latch having a latching abutment surface 12 transverse to the direction of longitudinal push-pull movement between the two parts, and the part 14 having a co-operating transverse abutment surface 13 for the latch, the resilience of the arm 16 being arranged for transverse self-looking movement of the latch to bring the two abutment surfaces into engagement with one another. The part 15 carries a release member 17 longitudinal movable relative thereto and adapted upon a predetermined longitudinal movement thereof so to move the latch transversely against its resilient mounting as to disengage the surfaces 12, 13 from one another and thereby unlock the parts, the release member being resiliently biased so that it is normally disengaged from the latch. As shown, the part 14 carries an earth ring 29 and a nut 30 whereby that part can be connected to a wall of an electrical apparatus and includes a nose 25 within which are electrical pins or sockets connected to terminals 32. The plug 35 of the part 15 fits within the nose 25 and incorporates sockets or pins. Axial movement of the sleeve 17 against the bias of a spring 20 causes a hook 18 of the sleeve to lift the latch from the groove 34. There may be a number of latches integral with a ring secured to the part 15 by a circumferential projection 26, the hook being then replaced by a circumferential lip.
