Abstract

1337009 A spindle attachment to reduce ballooning MASOHINENFABRIK RIETER AG 19 Nov 1970 [21 Nov 1969] 54984/70 Heading D1D An attachment for spindles in ring spinning machines comprises a shaft 26 for connection to the spindle and a yarn-engaging head 27 with longitudinal grooves 31 and a portion 34 which tapers towards the shaft 26 and makes an angle of from 8‹ to 13‹ with the attachment axis. The maximum attachment diameter is less than 2.8 times the shaft diameter. A further less tapered portion 33 may be provided and a portion 41 tapering the other way may be provided between portion 34 and shaft 26. A conical cap 50 may be provided or alternatively a hemispherical cap Fig. 7 (not shown). Circumferential grooves may be provided as shown in Fig. 5 and Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown). The extension fits in a releived bore in the spindle top and its shaft diameter is less than one third of the diameter of the spindle to which it is attached. A guide 11 may be provided, Fig. 1, at a distance of 3 to 6mm above the attachment. Dimensions and proportionality of most parts of the attachment are given.
