Abstract

1336561 Lead azide; explosive compositions G W C TAYLOR 17 July 1948 19261/48 Headings C1A and C1D Lead azide is prepared in a free flowing condition by precipitating it by double decomposition in aqueous medium in the presence of a colloidal suspension of graphite. Solutions of sodium azide and of lead acetate are added simultaneously to a stirred aqueous solution of colloidal graphite, the temperature of all solutions being 70‹ C. The lead azide contains a small amount of graphite and may be used as a delay or priming composition.
