Abstract

A mixture of normal lead 2 : 4-dinitro-resorcinate and lead azide is precipitated by mixing an aqueous solution of a lead salt, e.g. the acetate or nitrate, with a solution containing a water-soluble azide, and a normal and an acid 2 : 4-dinitroresorcinate, e.g. of sodium or magnesium. Rochelle salt and dextrine may be present.ALSO:A mixture of lead azide and of normal lead 2:4 dinitroresorcinate is precipitated by mixing an aqueous solution of a lead salt, e.g. the acetate or nitrate, with a solution containing a normal and an acid 2:4 dinitroresorcinate, e.g. of sodium or magnesium. Rochelle salt and dextrine may be present. Concentrated solutions of the reagents may be poured simultaneously into a large bulk of water.
