Abstract

1326950 Electro-photography XEROX CORP 21 Aug 1970 [2 Sept 1969] 40433/70 Heading G2H [Also in Division H1] During development of a photo-electrographic material an electrode, which may have a potential applied thereto, is placed adjacent or in contact with the softenable layer, so that an image complementary to that formed on the substrate carrying the softenable layer is formed on the electrode. The liquid solvent used for development may be applied through a porous electrode by means of a roller or the electrode and softenable layer may be immersed in a solvent bath. Prior to latent image formation the softenable layer may be charged and uniformly exposed to activating radiation, the charge polarity being opposite to that used for image formation. Exposure may take place through the substrate or electrode and the substrate may be carried on a grounded electrode.
