Abstract
1285614 Transferring electrostatic charge images KALLE A G 21 Nov 1969 [25 Nov 1968] 57178/69 Heading G2H In a process for transferring electrostatic charge images from a photo-conductive layer to a dielectric layer in virtual contact therewith, the photo-conductive layer consists entirely, substantially or contains charge transfer complexes which can be charged to 800 to 1,600 volts in a thickness of 8 to 15Á and when exposed to light image areas have a voltage of about 500 volts, whereas non-image areas have a voltage of about 300 volts. As shown, a metal drum 1 has a photoconductive layer 2 charged to about 1,200 volts by a corona discharge 3. An original conveyed synchronously in a direction opposite to the direction of drum rotation is exposed through a slit by lamps 5. Image receiving material 9 is brought into contact with the layer 2 to transfer the charge image thereon. The resulting latent image on the material 9 which is developed by developer sprayed from a nozzle 15. The developed image is fixed by squeeze rollers 17, 18 and radiators 20. The photo-conductive material consists entirely or substantially or organic charge transfer complexes or contains such complexes. Examples of photo-conductive materials are given e.g. 2, 4, 7-trinitro-9-fluoronone, poly N-vinylcarbazole and those disclosed in Specification 942810.
