Abstract

1325352 Electro-deposition of gold or gold alloy SEL-REX CORP 4 Aug 1970 [8 Aug 1969] 37604/70 Heading C7B A cyanide-free aqueous bath for electro-plating with gold or a gold-alloy and stable down to a pH of 4À5 comprises an amino-gold sulphite complex, the complex having been formed by reacting a trivalent gold compound (such as gold chloride) with an amine and thereafter reacting the product thus obtained with an alkali metal or ammonium sulphite in the proportion of at least twice the molar quantity based on the proportion of said product. The amine of the complex may be aliphatic, aromatic or cycloaliphatic, may be a hydrocarbon polyamine and may be an alkali metal salt, alkaline earth metal salt or an ammonium compound. The bath may contain, in addition to the complex, potassium, sodium and/or ammonium sulphite; alkali metal, alkaline earth metal and/or ammonium sulphate, phosphate, carbonate, acetate, citrate, gluconate, tartrate borate and/or ethylenediamine acetate; a soluble salt or complex of Cd, Zn, Fe, Cu, Sn, Ni, Co, In, Pb, W, Ti, Mo, Mn, V, As, Sb, Bi, Se, Tl, and/or Pd; and/or an organic compound comprising trivalent nitrogen.
