Abstract

1322578 Trousers VYZKUMNY USTAV PLETARSKY 2 Oct 1970 [29 Oct 1969] 46926/ 70 Heading A3V A method of making a pair of trousers, or similar, from a single piece of fabric which is both extensible and shrinkable and contains thermoplastic material, by shaping the garment after the seams have been joined. A rectangular piece of fabric may be folded so that two opposite edges 13, 14 meet in the middle of the sheet, a cut of length C then being made along the centre axis to the intended crotch position, the cut forming edges 15, 16. The edges 13, 14 are then joined to the edges 15, 16 respectively to form two leg portions, end 13 is joined to 14 above the crotch to form a body portion. Alternatively an open ended cylindrically shaped piece of fabric may be used which allows the garment to be made without any seam in the body portion. The garment is finally shaped by heat treatment which causes it to conform to the shape of a template device which comprises two fixed leg plates and pivotally mounted posterior and anterior shaping members, the body portions being extended by the action of the posterior and anterior members, and the leg portions shrinking to conform to the shape of the leg plates.
